Top Ten Fall Covers + Teaser Tuesday

“My God, he must have thought, here I am the head of the largest, most powerful banking system in the world and the very first thing this guy — who is going to be the president of the United States for at least the next four years — says to me is to justify my existence.” – REAGAN: THE LIFE, H.W. Brands.

I am roughly halfway through this book, but still fairly early in Reagan’s administration. Al Haig just left and the Falklands War came to an abrupt end when the Argentines gave up. Possibly done by the weekend: Brands loves backroom details. I’m learning (35+ books into this project) that I definitely prefer biographies that are more character-oriented.x

Today’s prompt from Artsy Reader Girl is book covers with autumn colors, but I’d rather show what happens when I search for “fall” in Google Photos. (GP uses a mysterious under-the-hood tagging system.)

The Pumpkin Patch at St. Paul’s in 2011 or so. it was as vexatious as it was beautiful.

I…don’t know where this was. I must have been out riding.

Dallas Academy framed by some fall colors.

Homestead Hallow in middle-of-nowhere Alabama. It’s a living history museum that also hosts craft days.

Hay, watch out! A farm truck’s load caused a major road closure last year.

A friend of mine found a closed campsite on a bank of the Alabama river.

Drive-through daiquiris? Vidalia, Louisiana, across the river from Natchez.

Parnell Library and its park, autumn edition. I love this place in Montevallo.

A bank in Florence, Alabama, modeled after a historic mansion that burned down, the Forks at Cyprus. The columns of Forks still stand, but the site is only opened once or twice a year.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have miles to go before I sleep. Rails-to-trails project.
