My aim this week is to post a POTUS review….every single day. As of this writing (12:28 AM on Tuesday), three days are secured and two books are well on the way.
What are you going to do with yourself when you’ve finished all of the Presidents? [lol] Presumably you’re avoiding the much more recent ones as its difficult to get a decent perspective on them – historically speaking?
On my Hail to the Chief page, I specifically exempt them from this project — ‘definitive’ biographies can’t really exist for them, I don’t think. Adams and Truman were given their definitive treatments decades, even centuries, after their deaths — when we were better able to put things into perspective. I do want to read a few items related to them once the dead presidents are done — in Clinton’s CITIZEN, he evidently shares his conviction that the Palestinians walked away from so many deals he became convinced they don’t want any kind of settlement at wall, and of course Maggie Haberstam’s CONFIDENCE MAN and REGIME CHANGE both seem interesting for the Don. I think definitive biographies for Clinton and Bush W could be written, they just haven’t yet as far as I know Both of them are unlikely to do anything else but pass on, and we could tell in 2008 that the terror war had made the ME far worse.
BTW – Did you see the Met Office vid I posted about the weather for the D-Day landing. Rather unsurprisingly they were actually involved in the making of the recent movie which must have been pretty cool.
I saw the video posted but hadn’t clicked over to it yet! Will have to check it out.
Amazing project!
