…and a bit suspect, I think.
I’m surprised they’re not leading off with the Gorn cliffhanger, buuuuuuut I can see why they thought the fans would get a kick out of this. It’s more Lower Decks style, though….not as if Vulcan self-discipline comes in a vaccine!
Silly was my first thought – followed by a groan…. Then I smiled…. Then I laughed…..
Ahhah this made me laugh and I though the same thing. So they all automatically know how to be Vulcan while actual Vulcans have to learn discipline for years?
Pelia is hilarious.
I finally got to the episode of S 2 that you mentioned, Subspace Rhapsody, last night. & It was the cringiest thing I’ve seen in a while. Kind of hated it. Especially because we had just watched the Lower Decks episode (10/10 amazing) the same night and then the Klingon War episode (Under The Cloak of War) which was also great.
& ohh is that supposed to be Scotty?π
Y…y….you don’t like musical episodes?!?!
I will not tell you how many times I’ve listened to the soundtrack in full. :p
Re: Scotty….possibly. He appeared in the season 2 cliffhanger but I don’t know if he’s been adopted aboard the big E yet. Also don’t know if this version of him did anything to Admiral Archer’s beagle Porthos. I hope not for his sake.
What about Number One’s two pieces, “Connect to Your Truth” and “Keeping Secrets”? I liked the latter especially because of La’an.
lol I am so sorry π€ I actually love musicals but I don’t love musical episodes in tv shows, or at least I don’t think every show needs a musical episode (I hated the Buffy one too even though apparently it is beloved). I think part of it is that I didn’t see it coming at all and I was not ready for Spock singingπ Anyways, as long as you love it and it makes you happy then that’s all that matters, don’t let a curmudgeon like me get you down!
AH yes we finally watched the cliffhanger yesterday and I can’t possibly wait that long!!!!! I also realize I think this is the first time I see the Gorn and they are terrifying!! I guess we’ll see if he gets adopted soon then lol. Oh dear, I don’t know what he did but either way poor beagle :s
I don’t think Ethan Peck was ready for Spock singing either, hah! Chong and Rose-Gooding are the only professionally trained singers in the SNW cast — Chong has some independent songs on youtube, actually. The others all had some auto-tune going on, which was especially obvious with Pike & M’Benga. I thought Rebecca Romjin did a great job, though.
These Gorn are definitely scarier than the original approach (TOS: Arena) or even the re-imagined ones in Enterprise.
Ahaha you’re probably right! And that makes sense actually, Uhura’s songs were the ones that I minded the least because I noticed her voice was great! I’m glad everyone tried their best and I bet the actors had fun filming it but let’s just say the episode doesn’t make my favourites.
Just googled the Gorn from Enterprise and they do look significantly less terrifying hehe π
Arena is SO campy but it’s also one of my favorite TOS episodes to re-watch — in part for the camp, in part for the idealism of Kirk.
I’ll have to watch the original series at some point then! Also, campy things can be so fun sometimes :D!
