Plus today’s prompt from Long and Short Reviews, but that would make for a long title.
WHAT have you finished reading recently? And God Came In, a biography of Joy Davidman, who became C.S. Lewis’ dearest friend, writing collaborator, and wife.
WHAT are you reading now? Oh, so much. I just bought a new translation of The Confessions yesterday and have been nosing in it for a bit. May save it for Advent, when I usually do a devotional read or two.
WHAT are you reading next? Probably something in German history as I’m prepping for a series of reviews in October that will cover German inter-war history. All Power to the Councils, possibly.
Today’s prompt from Long & Short Reviews is to “describe your sense of humor”. I’m not entirely sure how I would, but I can tell you I am inordinately fond of wordplay, especially puns.
I spent the last weekend in Pensacola, and left it so enamored I’ve already reserved a room for a return trip in November. They have a zoo and I missed it. Here’s a taste of what I saw!

I can appreciate a pun… but unfortunately, I’m married to a man who notices every pun everywhere and never fails to point it out… and he even comes up with his own… I feel like I’m becoming immune to a funny pun. It looks like you had a great time in Pensacola, Stephen. Great pictures!
My spouse does that too, George. 😀

Punsters are usually incorrigable!
(and encouragable, when people groan..)
The church is LOVELY! Both inside & out. I always like to look around churches when I’m visiting somewhere. I’ve some amazing buildings across Europe. Beautiful….
Impressive aircraft museum too!
It’s the National Naval Aviation Museum! AMAZING amount of vehicles in two massive hangars. They also have a bar & cafe modeled after an officer’s club in the Phillipines. Had a nice sandwich and an even nicer IPA…
That looks like a great trip.
I like puns, too.

Punsacola? I love those pictures, by the way. And that craft fair looks like so much fun!
It was wonderful, and to my surprise it wasn’t a tourist thing — the street is that active just from locals alone.
The interior of the church is beautiful. I find it interest that puns used to be popular and a show of one’s wit.
