WHAT have you finished reading recently? Double Play, Robert Parker.

WHAT are you reading now? Mortal Stakes, Robert Parker — and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, full-cast audio edition. Released yesterday but I had a night class, so I’ve only gotten to when the Order of the Phoenix busts Harry out of Dursley Prison so far. Enjoying the vocal artist for Tonks.

WHAT are you reading next? Robert Parker’s Blind Spot, Reed Coleman. A continuation of one of his characters’ series. (I’m reading it for the baseball connection.) And Paradise Lost…..

Cathy is going to end up in a horror movie, as the villain!

Sometimes I think people who schedule Zoom meetings have the same mindset as Cathy. 😅

  3. Not familiar with these. Enjoy!

    • Parker was evidently a modern writer of noir/crime thrillers. I stumbled on him while looking for novels with a baseball connection and have found three so far..

Have you read ‘The Natural’ by Bernard Malamud? I think we might have spoken about it before….

        • I’m fairly certain I’ve not read it, though I have watched a baseball movie (with Robert Redford, I think?) with that name.

Yes, that’s the movie. The book I found a bit weird but very good. I think it was a library copy (which I read after the movie) so need to pick up another copy for a re-read. The author looks to have written quite a few interesting tales that I need to acquire.

          • I’ll have to look for it! I enjoyed the movie well enough, though it’s not a favorite, even among baseball movies. Because of grad school I have not been doing much movie-watching…..I’ve literally only seen one all month, an Anna Kendrick mystery-turned-black-comedy.

I’m one movie away from filling up my ‘Last 10 Movies’ list. ‘The Dead Don’t Die’ has just become available on Prime that looks fun. Its a comedy zombie movie… Something ‘different’… [grin]
