WHAT have you finished reading recently? Camino Ghosts, John Grisham.
WHAT are you reading now? The Brass Verdict, Michael Connelly.
WHAT are you reading next? Will probably return to the Romanov book.
Note: I scheduled this post on Tuesday, given that we’re expecting severe thunderstorms, quite possibly producing tornados. Selma was ravaged by one two years ago in January 2023, so I hope the prediction fizzles out. If I don’t respond to comments, though, assume I’ve lost power or possibly been thrown into Oz.
Watch out for the Munchkins. I hear they like longpig just fine….
If they start warbling to me about lollipop guilds, I’ll sic the flying monkeys on them!
I hope all will be well for you.
Last book I finished: Déguster le noir – a collection of French mystery short stories on the theme of taste and noir. They have a colelction for each of the senses.
Reading a nistorical novel: Eroshenko, by Lucy May Lennox, among many others
Next: possibly The Prefect, by Alastair Reynolds
That’s an interesting way to theme a collection! My immediate neck of the woods was fine (no downed streets on my street that I saw) but an outdoor flea market not too far away was blown away. The Jan 2023 tornado created a lot of treefalls in that area, so I imagine there was sustained damage and last night’s storms were the straw that broke the camel’s back.
oh wow. Forgive me I forgot, in which city do you live? No need to answer if too private
Selma, AL — a once prominent river town with a rich history. These days it’s more generally associated with the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s.
Oh wow, qute historic place!
And also a planet away frim my Chicago suburb, as for the weather, lol
Our winter weather is bipolar, I like to joke. Tornados one week, bitter cold the next. I have a screenshot on my old computer where the temperature falls from 80 to 17 in the span of 4 days!
we actually have that here as well sometimes, crazy change of temperature in 24 hours even.
the joke in the midwest is: you don’t like the weather? just wait for 15 minutes.
And I have experienced a couple of times the weather of 4 seasons in one day, no kidding.
in spring I personally talk about the yoyo weather, lol
Oh my, I hope the weather is not too brutal and that you’re alright.
Thanks! We made it through OK, though an outdoor flea market was disassembled a couple of miles from me.
Glad to hear you’re okay but poor flea market!! 😮
