WWW Wednesday

WHAT have you finished reading recently? Just yesterday, I finished reading One No, Many Yeses by Paul Kingsnorth. It’s one of his earlier books, set back when he was still more of an activist than a mystic-farmer-critic.

WHAT are you reading now? Still plugging along in Lisbon and the Selma architecture galley.

WHAT are you reading next? Very possibly Jim Sciutto’s The Return of Great Powers: Russia, China, and the Next World War. I began nosing into it the night before and am almost halfway through. Um, so this and the question above should probably swap places.

  1. How is this last book? I see a reader wrote that it was “utterly lacking in critical analysis”. What do you think?

    • I’m enjoying it as a book for its new information (i.e. how Australia and Japan are responding to the threat of China), but its take on Putin’s intentions are boilerplate mainstream hysterics, with no “Hmm, maybe pushing missiles closer and closer to Putin’s throat had something to do with him going all angry-bear on us?” thinking.

  2. I recently finished The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak and am currently reading Such Charming Liars by Karen McManus. Not sure what I’ll read next – depends on what I’m in the mood for, haha.

    • I know that feeling! I’m definitely a mood reader. One book can send me on a tangent that burns for months, like my presidential obsession in 2023. One book from my TBR pile blew up into a string of ten reads!
