I’m supposed to be watching two people who I don’t like or respect debate on who should be el presidente, but knowing I have no real say in the matter, I am choosing to listen to beautiful music instead. Here’s a ‘debate’ between Sabine Devieilhe & Marianne Crebassa.

I gave it 23 minutes … decided I’d seen enough when I started paying more attention to the interviewer’s shoulder pads than the actual questions …

Oh, and does *anyone* actually decide who to vote for on the strength of these debates? I’ve never watched one (we started copying you guys a while back – as we tend to lazily do in most things eventually). I vote based on my personal ideology. Don’t people already know where they are politically? Or is in just transactional for a significant percentage these days…?
As polarized as we are, supposedly there are still undecideds. Debates can certainly have an effect, as we saw with Biden being forced to drop out. They’re more important during the primaries, I’d argue: that’s how Obama an Trump both built their momentum, and it’s when I started paying attention to Vivek Ramaswamy, because his performance was so strong. Kamala has been such a nonshow for the entire administration & since being appointed the candidate (despite dropping out of the primaries) that I’m glad she finally got out there.
