Tornado hit Selma badly yesterday. Some areas, including the library and my home, won’t have power for days. Will post it when possible. Now I hav no distractions to keep me from Mout Doom.

Power came back on late Saturday night, and I woke up this morning to see that my photoframe was showing pics from my online photo storage. Seems a little slow but todavía estoy aquí!
Yeah, that was quicker than expected! Although I guess it’ll take some time for things to start looking/feeling like normal.
Considering that AT&T has been known to leave me in the dark age for 2-3 weeks after much less dramatic storms, my mind is boggled. I’m guessing it’s all of the other utility trucks working in the area. We’ve been descended upon by all manner of kickass linemen, church & activist groups here to help remove trees and feed people, and of course the gawkers. A friend of mine said she had a gut-punch moment when the Red Cross offered her lunch and she realized then that she was officially a Natural Disaster Victim.
Praying for a speedy restoration of the power. 🙏 This is exactly why I will never give up physical books!
Yeaaaah, kinda grateful for the pile of doom’s existance these past few days. I’d never go hungry for books!
The news stories that made it here showed the storms caused significant damage. Hoping the power is restored soon and no major damage for you.
A tree fell on my garden/tool/bike shed but it’s a sturdy thing. Still standing. I can’t get into it, but right now I can’t drive home because of utility work and highway closures.
Saw some of the news coverage from Selma. Honestly looked like your town had been carpet bombed! Good to know it (mostly) missed your house and you’re safe.
Old Town, especially. It’s awful.

Thanks! It got a little easier this past weekend, with more windows where the road was open. Got in Saturday to find the power was back on, and last night I was blocked from getting OUT (was going to Walmart for milk & coffee) but this morning the internet appears to be working… 🙂
It sounds like things will get back to normal in dribs and drabs, with larger repairs to be ‘worked around’ until they can be completed.
At the risk of summoning forth the ghost of Coronamania, I don’t know that we’ll get back to normal. There’s too much damage for that — thousands of trees gone! What emerges will be a ‘new’ normal.
