Zeta

Zeta hit last night. Surreal 3 hrs, I will say. Total power loss in county. Will be days before I’m back online. No damage to my home but many friends and famy were not so lucky. I’ve been cleaning up my yard today, dragging tree sized limbs into woods. Drove to a walmart several counties away to use wifi and charge my phone on the drive. Hope to post from pc before next week.

😦 That’s awful. Hope they can get the power back soon. Glad you and your home is ok!

    • Thank you! I regained electricity over the weekend, but phone/dsl are still a mess, and Ma Bell isn’t nearly as on-the-job as Alabama Power. I may have to get my internet fix at work for a while..

sorry to hear about all that; the south has really gotten hit this year and maybe some power figures will alter their convictions re climate change one can only hope… glad you didn’t lose your house…

WoW! Hope you get things back to ‘normal’ – whatever THAT means these days – ASAP!

    • Considering there’s an election tomorrow, and our choice of either riots or some soviet-like lockdown depending on who wins, I don’t see normal making a comeback anytime soon! O_O I’m back in the land of the lighted, but still offline.

Well, I think there’s going to be some civil unrest no matter who wins…. You know, the odd Governor kidnapping… That sort of thing…. Any national COVID response… actually *any* COVID response will need to what till the New Year (if Biden wins) but at least that’ll give people time to get used to all those tanks on the streets and people being stood against walls for not wearing masks… [lol] ‘Normal’ might be available again over the Summer….. maybe….. 2020 – What a year, eh?

BTW – If you haven’t heard, the UK is going back to a less strict national lockdown – for at least 4 weeks – starting Thursday.

      • And Ireland is going into a STRICTer lockdown, or was before the hurricane…I don’t follow its news ,per se, but I do watch several Irish youtubers and they’ve mentioned it.

I don’t know if Biden has the stones to try to impose a national lockdown. I’m sure he’d like to — he’s been a faithful apparatchik for decades and firmly believes DC can and should do anything — but you don’t last that long burning political capital at will. He’ll make a speech, maybe push some act through with no teeth so he can claim he took decisive action, that sort of thing. Like McCain, he’s just too long in the tooth to do anything but make speeches.

  4. Take good care of yourself and I hope everything gets back to normal soon!

I just saw this. I hope you’re back to normal now. I grew up on the Gulf Coast in Florida and have lived through a few hurricanes. The lack of electricity and water is the worst part. Now I live in Texas and we merely have tornadoes, heh.

    • Mostly! The grocery stores haven’t been able to get back to their usual stocks of cold stuff — when new stuff is put out it disappears, so if someone goes at the end of the day like I do, they won’t see any sandwich meat at all. There’s still a lot of areas still heavily damaged…I just learned tonight that Marion is still without power and their water infra somehow failed, so they’ve had to turn off the pumps until they can figure out where the pipes have been compromised at. The water coming out is very murky and brown. Thanks for your well wishes! 🙂
